MFAA Prosper : Mortgage and Finance Brief 06
K atrina Parrington has enjoyed a considerable amount of publicity in her locality since being named as the MFAA’s Achievement Award winner for 2010. The Award has provided not only an endorsement of her as a businesswoman and mortgage broker, but also raised her profile in Alice Springs. “There was a write-up in the local paper, which has only helped to showcase my professionalism to a lot more people in the community,” she says. “It is great be judged by your peers in such a positive manner. The award has been the icing on the cake, really.” Parrington believes her success in the 2010 MFAA Excellence Awards can be attributed to all the extra yards she has travelled for her clients, and says the award was a handsome compliment to the strength of her business and her conduct with customers. The Elders Alice Springs office only commenced trading in mid-2009, but Parrington said the business “catapulted” way ahead of plans during the first six months. Parrington believes the strong start has been due to the presence she has created for the business within the local community. She made a name for herself by speaking at local business events and submitting editorial to local publications, and also used her wide network of friends to spread the word. “All of the testimonials we gathered from clients showed how important all of that networking had been,” she says. “I think my success so far has been down to a combination of enthusiasm, networking and marketing, customer service and relationships and good communication.” Awarding excellence In March, Katrina Parrington of Elders Home Loans, Alice Springs, scooped the Achievement Award at the MFAA’s Excellence Awards ceremony. The accolade recognises the achievements of brokers who have been in the industry for three years or less. Words Michael Mills The submission deadline for the 2011 awards is fast approaching!
